The fastest man in the world, Usain St. Leo Bolt was born on 21 August 1986 in Sherwood Content, a small town in Trelawny, Jamaica. He is once again the gold winner for the 100 meter sprint at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, August 14th, as he became the first athlete to win three consecutive Olympic 100m titles by beating American Justin Gatlin. Bolt, 29, ran 9.81 seconds in his final Olympics to replicate his success at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Cricket was his first choice in sports:
Bolt spent a lot of time as a child playing cricket and football. The track superstar has been a fan of cricket since he was young and hoped to play professionally. However, his cricket coach advised he switch sport and he opted for track racing.
He was born with scoliosis:
Usain suffers from scoliosis which is said to be an abnormal curvature in his back. As a young athlete, this hindered his progress but Bolt fought his way through with hard work. The condition does not affect his performance anymore but he still lives with it.
He has won almost every race since 2008:
Usain Bolt broke the world record for the 100 meter sprint in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics. Since then he has been the front-runner in every race, maintaining his title as the world’s fastest man. He was disqualified from only one race in 2014 for making a false start.
He owns his own restaurant in Jamaica:
Usain Bolt owns his own restaurant in Jamaica called ‘Tracks & Records’. The superstar opened it up in 2013 and it has fast become a local and tourist spot.

He will retire after the 2016 Olympics:
After picking up gold already in Rio, Bolt has said he will be retiring from Track and Field after this year’s competition. Rumors are circulating about the track star signing a deal with football club, Manchester United. Usain has always had interest in other sports prior to running track and it is speculated he will switch sports after his retirement.

Usain Bolt’s signature pose has been seen at the end of his races and fans around the globe have continually imitated the runner. This pose has also become his brand, appearing on any merchandise released in his name. It is also the logo for his hi-tech restaurant.
