Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara has agreed to a match with boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather will visit Nigeria for the first time on June 12 as part of a four-day hospitality tour.
Vanguardreports that the marketing company in charge of the tour, Zzini Media, released a statement stating that the welterweight champion will stop over in Lagos, Anambra, Akwa Ibom and Abuja.
The hospitality tour, which will have
him also visiting Ghana, is to promote a health initiative called
‘Boxing Meningitis Away from Africa’. In addition to supporting
businesses in Nigeria, Mayweather said that he will be using the
opportunity to do some charity work like supporting the returned Chibok
girls and internally displaced people.
While in Abuja, the 40-year-old boxer will engage in the charity
match with Dogara on June 14 at Transcorp Hilton, and proceeds from the
fight will go to some charity organizations.
